Petrol and LPG prices increase from today, diesel records slight decrease

Fuel prices are set to take a mixed turn from today June 1, 2026, with petrol and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) expected to go up, while diesel records a slight decline.

The latest outlook from the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) projects petrol prices to rise by 6.20% and LPG by 2.24%, driven mainly by higher international petroleum product prices.

Diesel, however, is expected to ease by 2% on the back of softer global market conditions and ongoing industry interventions.

Under the National Petroleum Authority’s (NPA) price guidance, petrol will sell at a minimum of GH¢15.20 per litre, LPG at GH¢13.48 per kilogram, and diesel at GH¢15.49 per litre.

The latest adjustment comes at a time when transport operators are also pushing through higher fares. The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) and the Commercial Transport Operators of Ghana have announced a 20% increase in public transport fares effective June 2, 2026, citing rising fuel costs and spare parts expenses.

The combination of higher petrol and LPG prices is expected to add fresh pressure on transport and logistics costs, with possible ripple effects on inflation and household spending in the coming weeks.
