The Government of Ghana has paid GH¢10.8 billion to bondholders under the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP), according to the Ministry of Finance.

The GH¢10.816 billion payment was made in full and on schedule on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, bringing the total amount paid to bondholders since 2025 to GH¢41.36 billion.

This marks the third DDEP coupon payment made fully in cash, a development the government says demonstrates its commitment to meeting its debt obligations and maintaining fiscal discipline.

The Ministry of Finance believes the timely payment will help strengthen investor confidence, reduce concerns about sovereign default and improve Ghana’s credibility in both domestic and international financial markets.

Government has also assured bondholders and investors that future DDEP obligations will be honoured in full and on schedule.

The latest payment comes as Ghana continues efforts to restore confidence in its economy following the debt restructuring programme, with attention now focused on whether the government can maintain this record of timely payments while keeping public finances sustainable.
